Stargate Invasion is a total conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment and Diplomacy . As of this time, there is no FINAL release date yet for this mod.
The mod will be built in 2 halves. The first is the Pegasus side, I.E. Humans, Wraith and Asurans, with the Pirates being a classified race at the moment. The second part of the mod, will add in the Asgard and Goa'uld races to the mix, we will even be creating a separate version of the mod as well, which will just be Humans, Asgard and Goa'uld, with the Lucien Alliance as the Pirates for that half.
Nobody answered...???
We have been very busy, atleast I have. Yes we will be making our own sounds, using some from the show, as well as custom ones from our team members.
Here is an ingame test of Riser's Human Railgun Turret. Enjoy.
hey, Eomega, can I use the current BC304 mesh/textures in mods that I make? Full credits would be given.
that is fine.
i know that human tech for the stargate universe is somewhat boxy... but id give them a little more credit for aesthetic sense than that...
what im trying to say, is the human railgun is ugly... no offense, but it is... whats with the random tail it has out the bottom?
anyway, on a more positive note, cant wait! actually, i was wondering if this mod will be mergable with other Total Conversion Mods (namely, the Stargate Races mod). I realise the answer to that question is usually no, but i thought id ask anyway
thank you Eomega.
There's been talk that when this Mod is finished that's a possibility... as one of the moddlers for the SG Races mod I think that would be totally sweet!!!
i have to agree with TheRezonator, the Human railgun looks like it is a strange robot that got thrown into space... not very "intimidating" OR "turret-like" to me...
The "tail" that you are refering to is the Solar Panels used for re-energizing the battery cells if they get to low, it might be ugly, but its useful.
As for the mod being able to be played with SG Races out of the box, it will not be possible. Due to both mods editing the GalaxyScenarioDef file, they will not be able to work together. It will require some modding on the part of hte person who wants to have both mods available at the same time.
It does its job, not everything has to look asthetically pleasing. When I get her textured, I will do an ingame video of her fighting, and you will see that it doesnt have to "look the part" to "do the job"
well, if thats the position you are going to take, why make a model at all? why not just make a small blue circle with no bump mapping or anything, and have it shoot out little triangles at the target?
better yet? why not forego the triangles, and just have the damage be inflicted 'spiritually', completely within the game without any external evidence of the gun actually firing?
hey, it doesnt look good, but it does the job right? i guess you've never heard of the 'Rule of Cool', huh?
im sorry im being such an ass, and i realise i have no say in your mod, its just that i was so totally blown away by the quality of your other models... and then this.... and yeah, personal tastes aside, the fact that you reply with such a response: It does the job, it doesnt have to be pretty...
i guess i was just very much shocked and disappointed.
on a technical note, why do these platforms need solar panels? Humans have Naquadah and Naquadriah generators do they not? It would be much more reliable than a solar panel which could be totally destroyed with a single weapons fire volley...
but, hey, like i said, i have no real say in your mod. you go ahead and do what you like... just a let down if you ask me.
lol rezonator your funny i dont wana be like the rezonator but, i have to agree with him he has a point about the platform.., could use some tuning thats all but keep up the great work !

I think most proporate model would be from SG-1 season 4 episode 17 the Absolute Power. There the humans have defence platform what Daniel let to construct.
Sorry if my english isnt good enough.
All other models are very superior quality.
thanks.... i think...
whats wrong with being like me?
dont get me wrong i ment i didnt want to aproach my critisizing in your fashion. U r u and i am i so thats that
Firstly, I would like to apologize for the way I said what I said, what I meant was that the model does the job it is meant to do, a low tech Weapons platform. It is meant to be the defense of the planet before you research all the high level tech. As for the Design, I am not the one who made it, obviously, but I will discuss, and I stress the Discuss, with Riser about the model to see what we can do to make it more reasonable in all of your eyes.
The Solar Panels are a backup to the Naquedah generators, which COULD fail and then what? have a dead weapons platform? Honestly, it is just an asthetic feature.
On the note of the railgun looking too boxy or low tech, here are 2 shots from the show of the Railguns brought to atlantis in Season 1 and of the Deadalus from Season 5. Not the first raigun is boxy, and the other is round, like the railguns we have now.
first, those railguns on atlantis were actually meant to be mounted on a 304, obviously they were modified to act as a mounted, man-operated AA emplacement.
second, the Daedalus railguns are obviously encased to protect against all sorts of things (weapons fire, radiation, deep space environmental conditions, etc). and dont need to have 1. the seat for the operator to sit on and 2. the crew shield against incoming fire.
honestly, those railguns are about as big as maybe an SUV right? whereas the ones on your turret model as as big as a 747 or so... the increased size means different structural integrity requirements, meaning the big 'planetary defence' versions are going to look different to the ones on ships. anyway, i wont go into it more because its not my place, im just saying sometimes precedent is valid, and other times you have to throw it out the window because its not applicable.
agreed about it being aesthetic, but from a scientific point of view, a Solar Panel array is much more likely to fail than a Naq generator (i.e. it being shot at), and Naq Generators would have backups... like rechargable batteries or secondary (Naq) generators. Not to mention they generate much more power than a solar array would anyway...
BUT! im getting off topic and being needlessly argumentative. for that i apologise. just pointing it out.
to be constructive, if i were designing it and REALLY wanted solar panels, i would put the railguns right next to each other, in the middle/center of the structure, and make the 'fuselage' long-ish and cyllindrical, in accordance with modern satellite aesthetics. i would then have 4 solar panels pointing outwards at the 1:30, 4:30, 7:30 and 10:30 positions respectively (the 1:30 etc refers to the location of the hour hand on a clock at that particular time)
depending on the dimensions, i can imagine that being more or less appealing to the eye. certainly more appealing than now though...
anyway, i re-iterate, great work, i cant wait to see the final thing. keep up the good work guys
For the Record TheRezonator, I was not arguing with you just to argue, I was attempting to spark a creative idea by agravating a member of the community to help me, and my team, see something that we couldnt see. You and the others who agreed that it was a little bad helped Riser and myself decide on a new path to take with the railgun turret, which I am showing off a WIP of below.
you mean something along the lines of this? Riser WIPed this up earlier today, he wil be replacing the Gattling like turrets for a style similar to that of the Railguns taken to Atlantis.
now that more like it . However it looks more like a sentry gun but same thing as defense platform and its look better .
yeah, thats MUCH better IMO
NOW if you really want you can add the solar panels
or at least some 'wings' to even it out a bit.
yeah, thats cool. i didnt want to sound like an ass, but yeah, anyway, glad to be of service.
[EDIT] saw this line after i posted:
good work!
nice !!
indeed
ok...now i'm not quite satisfied.... the design is a fail... why?..i have just one simple question.... where the heck would it store the amunition? and firing systems.... it should have a bigger back end... that's just my oppinion...
aside from the fact that in Sins we dont care about ammunition, you are most correct...
perhaps a small cylinder the diameter of the area of all 4 guns located behind the guns for core systems, and a "bridge" at the top of the structure... unless you intend it to be computer controlled, which is fine
