Mebbe if I'm bored and I'm done making buttons (those are fun and relatively easy and make me feel awesome every time I load the game). Entities first, though.
EDIT: WE WIN! The old models still work! I'll try to get the IN and chaos together as soon as I can. Also, the sizing on the chaos cruisers is just about right, so if you can copy that for the imps, that'd be the perfect scale (may be way easier said than done, though)
how's the mod progressing? last page i read was around 30, some monthes ago. what's up?
Well, right now, I'm trying to get all the stat files and stuff together for chaos and the imperial navy, and see what works and what doesn't in 1.1. We're trying to get enough models done so that we can release a beta and get some testing done (GW wants everybody else's IP out of their mods, so that's a fair bit of work).
EDIT: Fun news, turns out all the ship .entities work, but the abilities and planets need to be done again. Good thing I put them off so long...
I think it's a smart move to get a beta with just the Imperials and Chaos, at this stage. The models look great. Have you ever gotten any textures done?
awesome! nice job. i look forward to playing this mod
not quite yet, we've only had a texturer for a few days, but we should get some textured models soonish, I'm not sure when. I'll try to get screenies out soonish.
Textures aren't essential at this point. However, I would like to see as many ships, as possible (especially Caps. ) in game. My suggestion, would be to sacrifice quantity for full funtionality. Once you get the mechanics right, everything else should fall into place.
That's what we've been trying to do. We've had about four different iterations of the mod trying to get the balance with 2 escort models and 2 cruiser models. We just haven't been able to get every model replaced yet, and are a little leery of releasing with all the buildings being boxes, while it worked in demigod, I'm not sure it would here.
I think it would be less of a problem then you might imagine. You'll get more feedbak that way, and in doing so, may be able to solve any current issues. The desire is out there to see this mod regardless of the scope. No one has yet to bring a BFG mod to beta release(for any platform) so I really don't see the downside. I'm completely impressed by what you've done so far.
if someone can tell me what kind of emmiters buildings need i would have no problems doing some up but as of yet i have no idea what the hell to do to get things like the factorys working
p.s feel free to point out a thread i've missed or somthing... or just tell me what to do =P
Got chaos working, gonna deal with the imps next then pirates, and then test. should be done soonish. Prezo, I'm pretty sure that the armageddon model is strangely larger than the emitters, so it's a difference in scale with the model like the skewing on the regular cruisers.
EDIT: Prezo, the imps are working, so are the pirates as far as I can spare the time to test (don't have the time to see if all the pirate waves are right, but they should be), so get me that armageddon so I can make a lunar out of something other than a slaughter. I think the bombers are balanced now with the turrets working right, but I need to get other peoples' opinions on that and need to make a nova cannon ability, but other than that, the IN and chaos are ready.
Pirates? Ork or Eldar?
Hopefully both, but for now mostly chaos and the odd IN ship. The descriptions of the chaos escorts are mostly of their pirating, not their roles in any fleet actions, and they see a lot of action. Pirates are mostly escorts with a very few cruisers. They're something I need to work on the balance of, though. Still, I'm hoping we can get Orks and Dark Eldar in soonish, and maybe the regular Eldar corsairs. The problem with the corsair eldar is that damned 4+ armor. I don't have all that many armortypes, and I'm sure I don't have room to do 4+\armor without some real wizardry because I don't have enough armortypes. I may just decide to use the MMS eldar rules (fan made rules that make them a little more like a regular fleet and should help them deal with actually getting shot (no saying you can't shoot me, it's not your turn in a computer game =p)), and this would let me give them 5+ armor and probably fit all the races in. It'd give them a bit of shields and the 5+ armor, but they'd still be pretty fragile, you will have to micro or you will probably lose in a stand up fight, but it should let the eldar be fun to play with and against, and keep to the spirit of the game pretty well. Hopefully the orks will start appearing soonish, though.
Dakka dakka dakka dakka dakka!
More dakka!
EVEN MORE DAKKA!!!!!
needs moar dakka!
Why do I want to make the orks' guz batteries fully automatic?
assault on black reach is a bad influence on me, I must say.
Oh, and I swear I'll get some screenies of the IN up sometime soon.
Becuz only automatik has all tha dakka a proper Ork needz ta be Orky.
EVEN MOAR DAKKA!!!!!
DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA!!!!!!
Red dakka is fasta dakka.
We all want screenies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, yeah, I know. The one hitch is I'm trying to balance getting screenies with the whole "oh crap! finals! gotta study! thing".
Here's an Overlord class battlecruiser (left) and a Mars class Battlecruiser (right) with their escort of four Sword class frigates and four Firestorm class frigates.
Here's an Overlord class battlecruiser attacking with its dorsal lances.
Here's a cruiser squadron moving to the attack.
The squadron zoomed out a bit as their dorsal lances start firing and they fire their torps (the missiles, they're actually pretty big).
A zoomed shot from a few seconds later showing their lances hitting their target, a vasari trade port (one of the things that'll have to get removed before we can release publicly). Those small flares are torpedoes flying on in.
Aaand the torpedoes hit as the lance shots end.
Cool, huh?
EDIT: note to self, fix the gun ranges for the imps next time I'm free for a bit instead of posting screenies =p.
You rule!!!!!
haven't finished the on ship textures?
No skinner, no textures. wanna volunteer? You'll get the newest versions of the mod as soon as I come out with them and iNert'll give you all the models you could want. We've got a skinner, but he's just joined and he's very busy, so skins will come later.
ah. Im not really a modder, but I am a picture editor (photoshop). what's it involve?
the only modding I've done is to alter what unit types are available to what civs on "Spartan" to give me foot generals.
Nah, it's cool, I'm just in the habit of asking random people in case they can skin. It'd be really really hard if you don't have any experience, especially because our models are derived from miniatures, so they have a LOT of detail. I wouldn't bother if I were you.
For now they're just team color, which is a passable placeholder, and we'll get textures in as soon as we can.
*shrugs* was just interested. soooo any ideas on where i could learn a bit more on modding? I'll have ot check in the morn, tho.
