I've been known to leave GC2 running for 28hours+, but I don't think I'd be able to keep it going for the six weeks it takes me play a points mongering gigantic .
I'd never have the patience to sit through a galactic. It is such a slow start and it's just too large. The gameplay slows down completely. Medium is often the largest map I will play on. A nice steady start and it's soon followed by some more eventful happenings.
I've kept games going for a week or more without shutting down. Helps keep the influence stat from cratering. I have a gaming computer that was dedicated to Galciv2 alone. That was up till about a month or so ago. I haven't played a game for a while and have been using the machine for other stuff. I'll probably get back into it in a couple of months.
Of course, any influence resetting task will renew the calculation, so that's a good alternative. A task can be creating or destroying a starbase (any type), colonizing a planet or invading one. I assume that losing a planet would also do it, but I haven't tested that theory. The only time I've "lost" a planet in recent memory is when I gift one in the final battle with the last AI.
In case anyone was thinking of it, adding a module to a starbase won't reset influence, nor will increasing/decreasing influence on an existing planet (embassy or the like).
A Rosie Clone stealing your baby...
Now you know!
~cocks his AdBlock shotgun and shoots that whale~ phew, now that picture is gone.
All that is necesarry is to destroy or build a starbase. That's the easiest way at least. During the points-grinding phase I have a few extra constructors hanging around for that purpose, if I need to reload.
Sentient species taste better...
"He piled upon the whale's white hump the sum of all the general rage and hate felt by his whole race from Adam down; and then, as if his chest had been a mortar, he burst his hot heart's shell upon it."
Aaaaahhhhhh!!!!! My eyes!!! My eyes!!!
Have you ever seen a queen ant above the ground before cause they are fucking huge, I saw one digging out a new colony in my back yard, I decided to poke it with a stick. It got pissed off and tried to chase me.
ants are kinda scarry. for example...
Ravoux's slavemaker ant (Epimyrma ravouxi) is a species of ant in the family Formicidae. It is endemic to France. The queen acts like she's dead, but she's really not. Then ants from another colony drag her back to their nests, and she wakes up and kills the "enemy" queen. She wraps herself in the dead queen's carapace, and begins producing eggs. The slavemaker ants then overrun the colony and then find a new colony to take over.
That's fucking creepy.
Driver ants are the most vicious. Very rarely, they will even kill and eat a human. I'm thinking of employing them in home-defense... They are really incredible to see in action.
i saw some random movie or show where someone used several army ants' mandibles as makeshift sutures to close a wound. inventive, but talk about the cure being worse than the disease.
Well, it's been nearly over a month since Seeker left and boy I am glad he's gone. Looks like he won't becoming back.
Hey guys, just wanted to let you all know that I picked up my very 1st MV win.
It's definitely nothing special, but I just wanted you guys to know that I'm not going to be the type of person who simply joins an Empire just to be there and never play.
The win wasn't my HUGE map, just a quick MEDIUM. Not a very high score either.
But I promise they'll get higher. Much HIGHER!
Unfortunately, the game ended up having me at a GOOD ethical standing; I guess it was just one of those games were if you don't choose GOOD, you'll lose +500 million taxpaying civilians. That happened about 7 times. Ahh well.
Anyway, I hope that this game helps show you guys that I'm committed.
Long live the ToE!
~Cypher~
Congratulations Cypher. and nice score.
I don't care what anyone thinks lots of small scores is a good thing . they make a big score!
ooo Baby! that's nice.
you say theirs millions of these creatures. I'm LOVING the ToE.
Thanks Talesine; I hope to see you tacking on some scores soon as well.
hey man, don't sweat it. i haven't submitted or even played a game in months. we do like to advance our score, of course, but this is as much a social group as anything.
Yeah, you're right dystopic, this is alot about socializing and keeping friendships strong, which is just as important as anything else. Thanks man.
Very deep... I'm still loving the ToE.
IT'S FINALLY ARRIVED! You can expect my character to join the ToE soon and for me to start posting a few games.
Well, at least your not joining the Kzinti.
That hurts, Seth. That hurts.
Hey they have 400 so I think they don't need anymore.
Geckodons taste like chicken...with scales.
