I would post it there if i could get GCII TA to quit crashing past the galaxy screen.
Hmm...The last time I saw her, Playjeff was heading out into the desert with her in tow. In fact, I seem to remember that she had that last bottle of ale with her too.
Yeah, I like the dash cam. It probably wouldn't work well on an RC car though. It's physically pretty small, but the wires would get in the way. There are sport cams that would do great though. There are also some that go on RC aircraft. I'd bet one of those would work pretty well.
The one I took the video with is a V1000GS. It's 1080P at 30 FPS, so it's kinda like being there. It's supposed to look even better when the sun's out, but oddly, we've had nothing but rain and overcast here. Not that I'm complaining. Our drought situation has only been upgraded from "exceptional" to "severe".
And yeah, I like Motley Crue too. Classic stuff.
Yeah i've looked into many other cams, but they are all ridiculously expensive....but then i googled your model and saw it wasn't much different! You paid $220 or close to?The ones ive found have decent fps, but don't have good resolution and/or not in HD. I do some pretty wicked things in my cars and would love a pov video to show them off, plus i think pov on a RC anything is very...very cool!I may have to bite the bullet and pay around $200.
Yeah, it was a bit more than I wanted to pay at first, but the cheaper ones had pretty poor resolution, bad reviews and no GPS. This one has some hidden costs too. It doesn't come with memory, so you have to get a decent SDHC card. Even some class 10 cards have done less than adequately, so I got a listed one.
I also heard about the freezing up problems, so I got an autoranging power conditioner to make sure over and under voltages don't wipe out the electronics.
Still, it was nicely priced for the quality. It matches the performance of the $400.00+ models for around half the price.
I was considering a cheaper model that looks like it matches the one I bought, except that it has 4 LEDs. The deal breaker for me was that according to reviews, it only shows speed in KPH and I wanted MPH. If KHP is ok, that one is $135.00 at

Here's a vid of that one...
Yup KPH is fine for me, i know MPH and all, but anything imperial was phased out here in the 60's. I thought the above vid was another of yours at first....i was thinking...snow in texas...WTF!!!LOL
Finished my war game! Not sure where i last updated, so i'll just give a quick review..I think i was about to wipe out the Korx and the Drath last time i updated, both those fell easily. None of them had upgraded their ships to combat my missile attack and as such i was able to really focus on engines with my ships since i needed very little attack. I got a few shrinkers from them and did my upgrade, with more engines still. After this upgrade my huge hull had 50sp 250att/650def.The Klikiss (yor) were next and fell in one turn, my transports were also upgraded to 3k troops and 50sp.Last of all was the Altarians, who fell in two turns. I could have really ended the game so much sooner i guess, i just never saw the need to pull the trigger till the last few AI were left, i was happy just rolling over them in a easy fashion. Once i went full mil spending, i built up more transports than i could have used and with 50sp ships it was done and dusted very quick. Here's the screenie, it scored quite well for a straight up game. Only thing that wasn't vanilla about the game was my custom, it was an ARC, but for my race mod not for scoremongering, and some of the AI races were custom, but it was only the flavor of the races that were changed. I had under my SCC any ships that were surplus, which had a small Mil SB array over it, only 6 or so bases and not even fully built out. I gave up doing anything with my econ once i had payed the leases off. All i made sure was that each planet had a built IS, VR and a Farm III. I was getting just over 300k per turn and ended up with over 2mill in funds by the end...Next is a TA game, either one where i will let the game dictate to me it's course, or a Terran diplo game....
Good game, Neilo! Nice score for a normal style too. 250 att/650 def? That must have taken quite a few shrinkers! I can't get anywhere near those numbers. Did the minors also build shrinkers?
On the camera front, here's a review of something that might interest you. This guy does really good reviews of a range of tech goodies.
http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2012/2/14/the-1080p-jumbo-camera.html
The cam reviewed is just a keyfob cam, but it's 1080p at 30fps. No speed, but nice resolution. It's small enough that you should be able to strap or tape it to an RC car.
I have had some luck getting minor rages to build Shrinkers by gifting them high-class, terraformed planets at the same time I give/sell them the Expert Miniaturization tech. It is still low percentage, but can pay off if 2 of the 8 minors take the bait.
I recall a bug once with building the shrinkers, that if you cued up your shrinker and then gifted that planted to a minor, the shrinker would still be in your build cue since it hadn't completed, and of course the minor doesn't destroy it, so..voila 8 more shrinkers.
Pretty sure that was patched out though....
I know it went away by ToA v 2.02, but I am not sure when. If I can get through my 2.04 game without the frakker freezing up, I'll try the minor race tactic again and let you know how many cooperate.
Anyway with that caveat emptor and the knowledge that there has *always* existed at least some minimal form of score "milking", I would say the closest thing that existed to a "straight up suicidal game" were the 300K games played by both Magnumaniac and Syrrus K. Interestingly enough I don't think Purge ever got much more than 500K using his "peace for planets" strategy nor do I think he ever achieved much more than 100K without using it.
Both Magnumaniac's and Syrrus K's strategy depended on early outperformance of the suicidal AI colonization, in general doubling the colonization of a single AI and that was pretty much it.
It really wasn't until I combined Purge's initial development strategy with the 24 MSBA, always getting an Economic Boom on Oct 1st, 2226 and a bankrupting game ending massive upgrade, all of which other than Purge's usage of Diplomacy were of my own invention, that anyone began to come close to the 1 million mark.
It's because of my first hand knowledge of Magnumaniac's game that I always considered him the best colonizer in the game. However I would be loath to mention Magnumaniac's colonization ability without also giving credit to the one person that I believe to be a better colonizer than Mag and that is Sole Soul.
I didn't remember DL's planet count being quite so low, so I started a game and did a headcount; got almost 500. However, since DL's lower class planets are of much more limited usefulness, it's perhaps fair to say that only ~400 of those are worthwhile. It's also possible that planet count in DL has gone up somewhat since 1.4.
But as DL's pop growth is quite a bit slower, even before accounting for Breeder, and pop determines economy which determines just about everything else, it's clear that DL is a slower game, score-wise.
To my knowledge (which is extensive), that's not actually entirely true-while you can use that bug to have research capabilities generate social or military production via focus while bankrupt, you can't use anything to generate research production while bankrupt, although research treaties, pathetic as they are, will continue to function.
Thanks. Practice makes perfect!

But if your point was to compare "straight up suicidal games" the best representative of that would be anything from Mag or Syrrus K in DL v1.31 or DL v1.4x.

Very impressive games, considering they are DL!
Holy Crap, people are actually posting in this thread? And playing GC2!?!
How's it goin', all?
Hey Random!!!! Another Vet back for a twirl!!!Things are good mate, as i hope they are with you!Yeah, playing GC2 again, though for the pure fun of it these days. Trying odd game setups and playing with no cheese. In fact i should be well into a new TA game, but Impulse, in all it's divine wisdom has seen fit to tell me my TA is not registered and therefore cannot play on the MV. It's a real PITA, having to have to deal with two different company's for support and neither knows what the other one is doing, or telling me.I cannot wait for Stardock to launch the new SDC so i can dump Impulse.....
Hey All. Good to see some old faces in here.
Coming out of the woodwork now!! Great to see you again Captian!! Hows things? Been some time since we were active, wonder if we can get the ball rolling again!!!
1. More/better fix to make sure all HKCU settings keys are set properly from registration:
Start / Run / regedit.exe (will request elevation) Delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Settings
Erase C:\ProgramData\Stardock\GC2UL\sig.bin (will request elevation) May need to remove the sig.bin from ProgramData\Stardock\Twilight instead.
Run the GalCiv2\Twilight\GC2TwilightoftheArnor.exe and enter your Stardock account information and serial when prompted.
This will update the registry keys in HKCU that you just removed as well to cache the user credentials the Metaverse login is expecting.
@ Neilo, I had the same problem after that ground breaking patch v2.04. Here is the link to help you out (Reply #50). Best of luck!
You have my vote on getting the ball rolling and I would like to see that happen! Just make sure you all drop a comment or two in our thread too.
We are looking for players to join to become aggressive Admirals to lead your fleets across the Galaxy!
Empress Saint Mina of Ophelia VII of Order of the Bloody Rose of Orders Militant of Adepta Sororitas
Thanks Mina!!! I'll let support handle it for now, but if they keep dropping the ball i'll do this! As for getting the ball rolling, i was daydreaming the other day and thought it might be interesting to see if we can get one character from every active MV player into one empire. We could create a new empire just for these active characters, i don't think all of us, and by that i mean all the active peeps from Sororitas/Kzin/Tyranny...etc, etc..have ever all been in one empire together. No need for secrets or scoremongering, just people playing for fun, like the old days?????
Hey Neilo, Snark, Sole, Mumble, Capt and Mina!
It's good to see everyone gathering around again. I doubt a full on revival is in the making, but maybe the game has a little life left in it.
I've started a new vanilla game playing the Iconians. It's a balanced game, so no "all x" strategies are in play. No extreme diplo, no ARC or anything like that. Being the Iconians, I'm not going to limit my military, but the limitations seem to be built in anyway. I have a single fighter that I traded for and no tech to speak of. I've been threatened twice, but refused to give any handouts to the extortionists. It's Dec year 0 and my empire is in dead last place.
My ability to colonize is limited to slow colonizers that I'm building on my homeworld. I haven't built another starport yet due to economics. I'm sure things will turn around before long. At least my economy is balanced and staying above the -500 mark.
